Drivers Need ‘Clearer Signals’ About Green Taxes
Motoring taxes have been handled so badly that drivers no longer trust what ministers say the charges pay for according to an MP’s report. The committee said that drivers needed clearer signals about how taxes were being spent to reduce congestion and pollution. The committee said that congestion charges had proved ‘unacceptable’ in some areas, Manchester and Edinburgh have rejected congestion schemes and plans to extend the scheme in London were dropped last year.
